The Academic Staff Union of Universities’ leadership has given a 14-day deadline to the Federal Government to address various ongoing issues.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the union’s president, Emmanuel Osodeke, highlighted ASUU’s demand for the resolution of the renegotiation of the 2009 agreement with the FG.
Osodeke also mentioned that ASUU is pushing for the release of salaries that were withheld due to the strike carried out by its members in 2022.
He further cautioned that any future industrial disputes resulting from the government’s failure to act on this new opportunity should not be blamed on the union.
The ASUU president enumerated a range of additional requirements that the union expects the Federal government to fulfill.
These include enforcing the 2021 agreement, requesting the disbursement of overdue salaries for personnel on sabbatical, part-time, and adjunct roles impacted by the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System, among other demands.
