The organizers of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) have announced that the winner of Season 9 will receive a grand prize of N100 million and a brand new SUV, a reduction from the N120 million prize in the previous season.
In March, it was reported that Big Brother Nigeria Season 9 was set to launch, with DSTV Nigeria hinting at a possible twist in the series. Later, Biggie announced a new twist to the game, requiring participants to enter with a partner.
Earlier this month, the show’s organizers teased the new season, set to start in July, urging fans to mark their calendars
At a press conference in Lagos on Tuesday, July 17th, Busola Tejumola, Executive Head, Content and West Africa Channels, MultiChoice, announced that the show would begin on July 28.
Tejumola stated that this year’s edition, running for 71 days, promises to be exciting and filled with drama. She also revealed that the winner would receive a grand prize of N100 million and a new SUV.
“The ninth season of the Big Brother Naija show will be going beyond drama; we will be bringing in different blends of unique entertainment.
“The show will run from July 28 to Oct. 6.
“The challenging aspect of the show will be that the housemates will be going into the house in pairs and doing some of the house challenges in pairs.
“Everyone curious about the theme should watch out for the premiere on Sunday, July 28. The show holds lots of fun, vibes, emotion, drama, dynamics, and intriguing twists,” she said.
Busola Tejumola also announced that Toke Makinwa will host the Big Brother Naija Buzz, a behind-the-scenes show that will give fans exclusive access to the latest news, gossip, and updates from the Big Brother house.
“There will be something that would be unravelled from the night of the premiere.
“We will not be having the head of the house challenge as usual; there will be lots of twists from Big Brother.
“The pool party and the Saturday night party will be held, and the show will air 24 hours,” she said.
Last year’s Big Brother Naija All-Stars edition brought together past winners and contestants from various seasons, competing for a N120 million grand prize. IleBaye ultimately emerged as the winner, with Mercy Eke and CeeC as runners-up, making it a memorable season.
