The Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia, announced on Thursday, October 3, that Friday, October 4, would be a public holiday in preparation for the Local Government elections on Saturday, October 5.
In a statement released by his chief press secretary, Tersoo Kula, Governor Alia explained that the public holiday was intended to allow residents to travel to their respective local government areas ahead of the elections.
This decision aims to provide voters with the opportunity to participate in the electoral process.
Governor Alia stressed the importance of citizens engaging in the Local Government polls and urged them to make use of the work-free day.
He also called on the public to ensure a peaceful voting process by following security guidelines at the polling stations, emphasizing the significance of a secure and orderly election.
