Federal Government has given the directive that private jets which includes those belonging to prominent individuals like Bishop David Oyedepo, cannot operate within or out of Nigeria without adhering to the protocols established by the authorities.
It was during an interview on Channels TV on Sunday, November 24, that the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo made this statement.
This was a response as a result of the concerns that have been raised about private planes that are used for illegal arms import. The House of Representatives has revoked the license granted to individuals and organisations, including Oyedepo, for security reasons.
He further noted that the Aviation authorities have taken important measures to ensure that all aircraft adhere to the protocols that have been established to ensure safety.
He further noted that no air plane or drone cannot take off or land without adhering to the rules.
He said, “You must land in an international airport first.”
“Then the Customs, Immigration, and NDLEA will process you before you take off from there to your private airstrip.”
He reassured the public that the authorities are monitoring the airstrip operations and they are ensuring that all of them adhere to the protocols before departure.
