Bode George advices Tinubu to reassess his policy in response to the #EndBadGovernance protests

Date:

Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, has advised President Bola Tinubu to reassess his policies in response to the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests spreading across Nigeria.

While addressing a press gathering in Lagos, George highlighted the necessity for concrete improvements in the lives of Nigerians, particularly the youth.

George said, “The state of our nation is akin to being in an intensive care unit.”

He asked President Tinubu to focus on fixing important problems in the oil and gas industry and the power sector to reduce the significant economic difficulties experienced by the people.

George complained about how the government is managing the oil sector, especially mentioning his annoyance with the mixed messages regarding fuel subsidies.

“One day we hear about fuel subsidies, the next day there are claims that there are none. We need clarity and honesty,” he stated.

While speaking about the recent protests across the country, George commended the young Nigerians who have peacefully protested to show their dissatisfaction with current government actions.

He highlighted the frustration felt by the youth, who are struggling to find jobs and access food, and he asked the government to pay attention to their concerns. George also pushed for policies that would help local farming, decrease inflation, and ensure there is enough food for everyone.

He suggested changing the constitution to include reforms like restructuring, giving more power to local governments, and controlling resources, and he urged the President and National Assembly to review the suggestions made during the 2014 National Conference.

Furthermore, he called for an end to tribalism and religious intolerance, stating that these attitudes hold back the country’s development.
