Nigeria’s Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, has been appointed to the Board of Trustees of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). Tijani announced the appointment on social media, expressing his honor and gratitude for the invitation from UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
He views this appointment as a testament to Nigeria’s progress under President Buhari’s leadership, particularly in promoting economic and social development. Tijani believes his appointment validates the ministry’s efforts in capacity building and bridging the technology skills gap through initiatives like the 3MTT program.
As a board member, Tijani looks forward to collaborating with others to shape the institute’s principles and policies. This appointment marks a significant milestone for Nigeria, following in the footsteps of former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, who served on the UNITAR board from 2016 to 2018.
