BUA Cement: Truck involved in Anambra road accident not ours

Date:

BUA Cement Plc has clarified that the truck involved in the recent accident in Anambra does not belong to the company. In a statement on Wednesday, the cement manufacturer addressed multiple online reports and a circulating video that erroneously linked a BUA Cement truck to the incident.

The accident, which occurred on Tuesday at the Green Energy Oil and Gas filling station in Eke Awgbu, Anambra state, involved a truck loaded with cement. Reports indicated that five people lost their lives in the tragic event.

BUA Cement extended its condolences to the affected families but emphasized that the truck in question is not theirs.

“We have seen various online reports, including one in Tribune newspapers, and a circulating video that mistakenly identify a BUA Cement truck as involved in the accident on Agulu-Agwubu Road, Orumba North Local Government Area, Anambra State,” BUA Cement stated.

“While we deeply sympathize with the families who lost their loved ones, it is important to clarify that the truck involved is not a BUA Cement truck. All our trucks are marked with our logo and truck numbers for easy identification.”

The company noted that most of its cement products are sold ex-factory, meaning customers are responsible for transporting the cement from the plants to their destinations.

“In instances where customers require door-to-door service, we utilize our transport and logistics arm, BUA Transport, which adheres to the highest safety standards and prioritizes human lives,” the company added. “We train our drivers rigorously with the help of professional logistic bodies, including the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), to ensure safe driving practices.”

BUA Cement urged the public to report any unsafe driving behavior by their trucks and provided a contact number (0803 200 5193) for such reports.

The company also demanded that all platforms which published the incorrect report retract their stories.

BUA Cement concluded by expressing its heartfelt condolences to the families affected by the accident, offering prayers for their comfort and for the souls of the departed.
