The FCT High Court has allowed former Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku, bail set at ₦150 million, requiring two sureties to provide the same amount.
Ishaku, who led Taraba State from May 2015 to May 2023 as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on 15 counts related to criminal breach of trust, conspiracy, and misuse of public funds amounting to ₦27 billion.
Justice Sylvanus Oriji placed stringent conditions on Ishaku’s bail, requiring two sureties based in Abuja with confirmed residential addresses.
One of these sureties must hold a directorial position within the Federal Civil Service. Additionally, a ₦150 million bail bond was set.
Moreover, Ishaku and his co-defendant, Bello Hero, have been prohibited from departing the country unless authorized by the court.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), represented by Rotimi Jacobs, did not contest Ishaku’s bail plea, highlighting his past adherence to administrative bail conditions.
