A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court has dismissed the bail application presented by former Kogi governor, Yahaya Bello.
Justice Maryann rejected the bail application because it was filed when Yahaya Bello was not officially detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The judge stated that the accused can not be granted bail when he or she is not officially detained by any law enforcement agency which includes EFCC, DSS and Police
Before Bello was detained, his lawyers have already filed for a bail application in court on November 22.
Four days after he responded to the commission’s invitation, he was detained by the EFCC on November 26 before he was charged to court on November 27.
