The Apapa command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in Lagos has achieved a remarkable feat, generating N1.2 trillion in revenue from January to July. Comptroller Babatunde Olomu announced this in a statement, expressing his commitment to surpassing existing records.
The command’s July collection of N201.8 billion marks its highest monthly revenue in history. Notably, the seven-month revenue surpasses the total revenue of N1.7 trillion collected in 2023. Olomu attributes this success to the implementation of the Time Release Study (TRS), which has facilitated trade and yielded outstanding results.
He expressed optimism about beating this record, citing the command’s reinvigorated units and interventions from the tariff and trade department as contributing factors. Olomu emphasized the command’s commitment to promoting seamless trade and urged port users to embrace legitimate trade. The Apapa command handles the highest volume of trade and revenue collection, and Olomu assured that the command is dedicated to detecting concealment and minimizing revenue leakage.
