Rev. Julie Akhimien, President of the Christian Women Fellowship International (CWFI), announced that the organization’s 50th convention, held in Benin from August 5 to 11, would feature the distribution of N20 million worth of equipment to women and the awarding of 50 scholarships to orphans and indigent students of members.
She highlighted CWFI’s achievements, noting that over 2.5 million women have benefited from their skills acquisition, interest-free loans, and empowerment programs over the past five decades.
Founded by Archbishop Margaret Idahosa, CWFI aims to enhance women’s spiritual lives and promote their role in the church and society.
The convention coincided with Archbishop Idahosa’s 81st birthday, marking a significant milestone in CWFI’s 50-year journey of empowering women through various initiatives.

“The focus of CWFI is on Christ, the body is trans-denominational. It is upholding the dignity of womanhood in all facets. CWFI is for every woman who loves and wants to serve God.
“I can tell you that N20 million has been spent to procure items to empower women at this year’s convention.”
CWFI vice president, Rev. Nnenna Godson, said over 30,000 women from all parts of the world are expected to attend the convention, stating, “The event will be outstanding and impactful.”
According to Rev. Julie Akhimien, the event, hosted by Archbishop Margaret Idahosa of the Church of God Mission International, would provide women with empowering teachings, enabling them to return home and positively transform their family lives, strengthened by the knowledge and inspiration gained.
