Dapo Abiodun to speak at advertising agencies congress

Date:

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State will officially open the 51st annual general meeting (AGM) and congress of the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN). The event, themed ‘Breaking the Mold-Creativity and National Development,’ will take place in Abeokuta from July 18 to July 20.

In a statement on Friday, the AAAN announced that Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation, is also expected to attend. During the AGM and congress, a new executive committee will be elected to lead the association for the next two years.

Steve Babaeko, the AAAN president, stated that the event will begin on July 18 with courtesy visits to Oba Adedotun Gbadebo Aremu III, Alake of Egbaland, and Oba Adedapo Tejuosho, the Osile of Oke-Ona. The conference sessions on the second day will feature prominent speakers from various sectors, including Mr. Obi Asika, Director-General of the National Council for Arts and Culture; Mr. Femi Odugbemi, founder and CEO of Zuri35 Media; Ms. Chichi Nwoko, CEO and founder of WHAT Media; Mr. Olumide Balogun, Director of Google West Africa; and Mr. Olatunbosun Alake, Lagos State Commissioner for Innovation, Science, and Technology.

On the same day, candidates for various executive committee positions will present their ideas during the manifesto night. The final day will include a business session followed by a gala and award night.

Babaeko emphasized that the AGM is a crucial opportunity to evaluate the advertising sector’s contributions to national development. “The 51st AGM/Congress offers a platform to assess the advertising sector’s impact on the country’s socio-economic well-being and how it can achieve greater impact,” he said. He noted that the Nigerian advertising industry significantly contributes to the country’s Gross Domestic Product, with a PwC report estimating the industry’s value at N605.2 billion.

Doyin Adewumi, chairman of the events planning committee, highlighted the importance of the diverse expertise that will be shared at the AGM. “The line-up of multi-industry experts addressing the AGM theme will provide new perspectives for AAAN members,” Adewumi said, emphasizing the value of insights from accomplished professionals to enhance the knowledge and skills of advertising experts.
