The Federal Ministry of Environment has declared Ebonyi State as the third-highest performer in the esteemed Climate Governance Performance Ranking, which evaluated the environmental efforts of all 36 states in Nigeria for the year 2024.
This prestigious recognition was proudly presented in the nation’s capital, Abuja, on Friday, culminating from a fruitful partnership between the Department of Climate Change and the Society for Planet and Prosperity.
In response to this achievement, Commissioner for Environment Victor Chukwu, who accepted the award on behalf of Governor Francis Nwifuru in Abakaliki on Saturday, expressed pride in Ebonyi State’s notable progress in climate governance, ranking closely behind Lagos State, and reaffirmed the state’s commitment to maintaining its reputation as Nigeria’s greenest state.
Chukwu pointed out, “Here comes the award-winning Ebonyi State in the national Climate Governance Performance ranking. Ebonyi State is the first in the South-East, the second in Southern Nigeria, and, the third in the entire country.
