The Chiefs of Defence Staff from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) are presently convening at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja for a crucial meeting.
Sources indicate that Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, is presiding over the meeting.
General Musa not only leads the Nigerian military but also serves as the chairman of the ECOWAS committee of Chiefs of Defence Staff, showcasing his pivotal role in regional military matters and cooperation.
In attendance at the meeting are the Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru, Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar, Senate Defence Committee Chairman Ahmed Lawan, House Defence Committee Chairman, a representative of the National Security Adviser, Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff Christopher Musa, service chiefs, and Chiefs of Defence Staff from ECOWAS nations excluding Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger.
The security officials will engage in discussions and strategic deliberations to address and devise solutions for the regional threats that are impacting countries across West Africa during the meeting.
