EFCC distracting Gov Ododo by harassing Yahaya Bello – Kogi group

Date:

The Odu Akowe Network Group (OANG) calls on President Bola Tinubu to step in and stop the alleged harassment of ex-Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, by the EFCC.

They are worried that the EFCC’s actions are not only focusing on the former governor but are also diverting the attention of the current Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, from effectively running the state.

During a press conference in Lokoja, the group’s spokesperson, Comrade Noah Agada, urged President Tinubu to tell the EFCC to avoid doing things that could disrupt the progress of the Ododo administration.

Agada stated, “The activities of the EFCC in recent weeks and months regarding Kogi State have created an atmosphere of distraction, rancour, and acrimony, which is hindering peace and development in the state.

“Governor Ododo is facing unnecessary challenges due to these ongoing inquiries into the alleged infractions of the previous administration, which are politically motivated. This distraction is hampering the progress of the state.”

Agada accused some politicians for using the EFCC to further their own political interests instead of letting the agency deal with real problems.

He said that the ongoing investigation of Yahaya Bello’s time in office is stopping the current government from working with clear goals and effectiveness, and he wants attention to be redirected towards building a better future for Kogi State.

He added, “The EFCC’s scrutiny, masterminded by individuals seeking political advantage, is more about persecution than prosecution. This constant harassment is a distraction to Governor Ododo’s administration, which needs a clear focus on development.”

The Odu Akowe Network Group also called on the federal government, the APC leadership, and other democratic bodies to intervene and halt what they labeled as the EFCC’s “unprofessional conduct” towards Yahaya Bello.

Agada added that the government should concentrate on bringing progress to Kogi State rather than letting anti-corruption agencies repeatedly interfere with governance.

Agada concluded, “We urge the federal government to work towards creating a prosperous future for Kogi State and its citizens by shifting focus from investigations to driving progress and innovation.”
