Adewole Adebayo, the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the 2023 elections, has voiced his concerns regarding the upcoming nationwide protest aimed at addressing the economic hardships experienced in the country.
Adebayo has shared his reservations about the planned protest, expressing his thoughts and apprehensions regarding the event.
In a statement, Adewole Adebayo encouraged Nigerians to exercise their voting rights wisely in the upcoming general elections. He urged them to reject government policies and experiments rooted in neoliberalism. He emphasized that instead of taking to the streets in protest, there should an importance of making informed choices through the electoral process.
“Why don’t I endorse mass protests? Elections have consequences and the winner must use his mandate; 4 year tenure is sacred if we must avoid chaos; protests have no ideological basis for the protest sponsors follow the same neolibéral policies; Vote wisely next time.
“What do I endorse? Voicing out alternative policies with better outcomes than IMF inspired neolibéral experiments; organising the voters to vote in their socioeconomic best interests; avoid chaos by foreign and domestic enemies of Nigeria; debunk APC government lies,” he stated.
