Femi Adebayo surprisingly bags four huge awards at the Best of Nollywood Awards for his movie “Jagun Jagun”.
On Sunday, Nollywood stars, filmmakers, and industry professionals came together at the Sugar Factory Film Studios in Ilorin, Kwara State, to celebrate excellence in filmmaking at the Best of Nollywood Awards.
Femi Adebayo emerged as one of the biggest winners at the Best of Nollywood Awards, taking home four awards for his 2023 film “Jagun Jagun”. His awards included Best Actor, Best Use of Costume, Best Art Design, and Best Use of Special Effects.
In addition to Femi Adebayo’s four awards, his brothers Adebayo Tijani and Tope Adebayo Salami also made a notable win, taking home the Best Director award for their impressive directorial debut in Jagun Jagun.
During his acceptance speech, Femi expressed his gratitude, mentioning that this was his first visit to Kwara State and hoped to return to the stage for more awards in the future. He graciously dedicated his win to the people of Kwara State.
Earlier, Femi Adebayo’s 2023 film “Jagun Jagun” received an impressive 7 nominations at the 2024 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA). The nominations included Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Achievement in Costume Design, Achievement in Make-up, Achievement in Production Design, Ousmane Sembene Award for Best Film in African Language, Achievement in Visual Effects, and the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) award for Best Nigerian Film.
Femi Adebayo’s first movie on Netflix made a significant impact in the filmmaking world. The film achieved remarkable success, garnering 2.1 million views globally on the streaming platform. It also ranked 5th on Netflix’s Non-English Charts and secured a spot among the Top 10 trending movies in 17 countries.
In August 2023, Femi Adebayo was overjoyed as he received his first award for his movie “Jagun Jagun”. He took a moment to appreciate Woli Arole’s significant contribution to the film. Femi was deeply moved by the award presentation, as well as the heartfelt speeches from Faithia Williams and Bimbo Ademoye.
Femi Adebayo had another notable win earlier this year, taking home the award for Best Indigenous Language for his movie “Jagun Jagun” at the 10th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) in May.
