The Federal Government has started urgent repairs on the deteriorating 7 km section of the Lagos-Sango-Otta-Abeokuta road, a vital route that has been severely neglected in recent times.
This announcement was communicated on Wednesday in a statement released by the Media Special Adviser to the Minister of Works, Uchenna Orji.
Orji stressed the government’s dedication to tackling the critical infrastructure challenges impacting travelers on this route.
He said, “The road has been bad for some time, and the Federal Ministry of Works is bringing relief on the dilapidated sections in conjunction with the concessionaire.”
He mentioned that the repair project is a component of a wider plan known as the ‘Operation Free Our Roads’ campaign, which is designed to improve the state of federal roads throughout the country.
Orji stated, “The Federal Ministry of Works under the watch of His Excellency, Sen. Engr. Nweze David Umahi CON, is committed to providing relief to motorists and commuters on all the federal roads nationwide.”
He highlighted that drivers and residents have consistently voiced dissatisfaction regarding the road’s state, resulting in longer travel durations and safety worries.
He said, “With these emergency repairs underway, the government aims to restore smooth transit for the thousands who rely on this vital route daily.”
