Reports have it that in the early hours of Monday, the only market in Trademore Estate, Lugbe, Abuja caught fire thereby damaging the traders’ properties.
This incident started around 3:30 a.m.,when the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company restored power.
Sources claimed that the fire was triggered by the electric power though it have not been confirmed whether it was actually the cause.
A resident of the estate, Joe stated that the fire had already spread by the time he was called by 4:00am.
The residents tried to contact the emergency services but there were delays. First to respond to the emergency was the firefighters from Dunamis Church which responded by 5:00am, followed by teams from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Sauka Station.
It took two hours before they could stop the fire from spreading further.
