Professor Isa Ali Pantami, the former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, has been designated as the Co-chair of the African Scientific Research and Innovation Council (AU-ASRIC) by the African Union (AU).
His responsibility will involve formulating the Policy and Strategy for the 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR) in Africa, which will have implications for all 54 nations across the continent.
Professor Pantami’s selection underscores his proficiency in advancing the Fourth Industrial Revolution. His significant achievements encompass founding the National Centre of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (NCAIR) while serving as the Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).
Moreover, he played a vital part in formulating Nigeria’s inaugural Digital Economy Policy, which prioritizes Digital Society and Emerging Technologies.
Professor Pantami is partnered with Professor Anicia Nicola Peter from Namibia in co-chairing the council. Professor Peter is a distinguished researcher with vast expertise in Human-Computer Interaction, Social Media, Gamification, and cutting-edge technologies.
The council features a distinguished lineup of specialists, including Professor Khaleed Ghedira from Tunisia, Professor Maha Grima from Morocco, and other esteemed scholars and policymakers.
