Former Minister of Education criticizes NCS for handcuffing Farotimi

Oby Ezekwesili, former Minister of Education, has condemned the Nigerian Correctional Service for handcuffing Dele Farotimi which she described as ‘being unacceptable’.

In a tweet, she stated that there was no need for the harsh treatment when it is a civil matter between Farotimi and Chief Afe Babalola.

She tweeted, “What crime is the Nigeria Government or Police prosecuting Dele Farotimi for at this stage? This reckless desecration of public institutions under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will not sustain. Never.”

She called on the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunde-Ojo, to explain the need for the handcuffs in this particular situation.

Ezekwesili emphasized on the need to address such mistake to be sure that it is not repeated by overenthusiastic officers.

She called on the authorities to respect the laws and ensure that matters pass through the right judicial process. She urged the authorities to respect the citizens rights.
