Funke Akindele’s latest movie, Everybody Loves Jenifa, is breaking records in Nollywood, becoming the biggest opening weekend of all time with an impressive N206m.
Everybody Loves Jenifa surpasses Funke Akindele’s previous film, A Tribe Called Judah” which earned N113m on its opening.
The movie has also achieved the biggest 2024 opening and highest single-day gross, generating N87.8m.
“Everybody Loves Jenifa“, which premiered in cinemas on December 13, achieved the biggest opening day for a Nollywood movie, earning N45.2m.
The film tells the story of Jenifa, played by Funke Akindele, a beloved lady in her estate until a new neighbor arrives, stealing the spotlight and the community’s affection.
Lobster, played by Stan Nze, is the new arrival in town, running an NGO similar to Jenifa’s, but with a hidden agenda, using it as a scam to secure grants from unaware humanitarian organizations globally.
The movie boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Funke Akindele, Falz, Omowunmi Dada, Jackie Appiah, Nancy Isime, Destiny Etiko, Chy Nwakanma, Patience Ozokwor, Lateef Adedimeji, Bisola Aiyeola, Chimezie Imo, Jide Kosoko, Ayoola Akinyoola, Michael Uba, Tobi Makinde, Hilda Baci, Wendy Ubakanma, Paschaline Alex, D’banj, Layi Wasabi, and Cute Abiola, among others.
