Gombe Governor Reaffirms Dedication To Quality Healthcare

Date:

During a Thursday inspection of the newly built, 200-bed ultramodern General Hospital in Kumo, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya reaffirmed his administration’s pledge to provide high-quality healthcare services to all state residents.

This modern facility, which replaces a worn-out hospital, is designed to serve as a referral center, offering comprehensive healthcare services.

The Governor’s visit underscored his commitment to ensuring that citizens have access to top-notch medical care.

“The complete reconstruction of this hospital is part of our larger plan to provide quality and affordable healthcare services to the people.

“We inherited a completely moribund General Hospital that was incapable of providing the required healthcare services due to lack of necessary equipment. We had no choice but to rebuild it from the ground up.”

“We built the hospital to international standard so it can function as not only a general hospital but also a facility that can provide tertiary health services,” the Governor noted.

The Governor also mentioned that the state government has expanded its healthcare infrastructure by building similar modern hospitals in Kaltungo and Bajoga, in addition to renovating and upgrading at least one Primary Healthcare facility in each of the state’s 114 political wards, thereby increasing access to quality healthcare services across the state.

According to him, “Our performance in the health sector, from human resources to infrastructure, are evident for all to see.”

During a tour of the facility, Commissioner for Health Dr. Habu Dahiru emphasized its capacity to manage intricate medical cases, such as heart surgeries and various complications, thanks to its state-of-the-art equipment.

He noted that this modern hospital has the potential to become a premier healthcare hub, serving not only the state but also the entire North-East region.

Habu Dahiru highlighted, “In this theatre, multiple operations can be performed simultaneously, making it ideal for emergency situations and life-saving interventions.”
