IGP orders Nigerian Police Force to wear black bands for seven days

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has issued a directive to the members of the Nigerian Police Force to wear black bands throughout the seven mourning period.

He issued this directives because of the the death of late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja.

In a statement, the police spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi said, “This directive is to pay tribute and honour the late General who has shown gallantry, dedication, and passion for fighting violent crimes and insurgency in Nigeria.

“He was a great leader who deserves to be honoured by all means. May the soul of the late COAS rest in peace.”

He played pivotal roles in numerous internal security operations before his appointment as COAS. He is survived by his wife, Mariya, and their two children.
