The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has praised the officers who discovered and safely detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) located along Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way in Ikeja, Lagos.
The detonation was carried out on Wednesday by the police’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) units.
In a statement from Police Spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP called on members of the public to stay alert and report any unusual or suspicious activity they observe.
The IGP commended the successful neutralization of the discovered IED by the specialized police teams, emphasizing the critical role public vigilance and cooperation plays in helping to identify and address potential security threats.
The statement read, “If you encounter an unfamiliar or suspicious object, do not touch or move it. Keep a safe distance and immediately inform the Police.”
The statement further noted that the Police “is working tirelessly to investigate further the source of the bearers of the IED planted in Lagos, dismantle their plans and apprehend those involved, the cooperation of well-meaning members of the public is vital in these critical times.”
