The Kaduna State governor, Malam Uba Sani, disclosed plans to allocate N5 million for women empowerment in 2025.
He made this statement during the Kaduna State Economic Empowerment Summit 2024 and Policy Launch in Kaduna.
He told the people that the official launch of the innovative policies in the state was part of the plans of fostering gender equality in the state.
“It is with great pride that I announce the launch of the Kaduna State Women Economic Empowerment Policy, alongside the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) and Youth, Peace, and Security (YPS) initiatives.”
He promised to invest in the women and youths by ensuring that there is provision for the necessary skills and resources needed in the growth.
He further noted, “We recognize that empowering women economically is essential for sustainable development.”
One of the partners in the Women Empowerment Policy, the Development Research and Projects Centre (dRPC) stated that there is a link between women economic empowerment and the prevention of gender-based violence, while calling on the state government to adopt National Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) Policy.
The Director of Partnerships and Communications, Hassan Karofi, stated that the adoption of National Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) Policy at the subnational level was to help the policymakers make decisions for the economic well-being of the women.
