Kaduna state government lifts curfew previously implemented

Date:

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna has lifted the curfew, previously implemented from 6 pm to 8 am, which aimed to prevent disorder during the hunger protests.

In a statement relayed to journalists by Samuel Aruwan, the Acting Commissioner of the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, the removal of the curfew is effective as of Tuesday.

He mentioned that law-abiding residents are now allowed to freely move and participate in lawful activities in Kaduna and Zaria towns without any limitations.

He stated that following a thorough evaluation conducted last night, the Kaduna Security Council unanimously advised lifting the curfew, reaffirming its dedication to ensuring the security and well-being of the populace in the state.

Aruwan added that the Security Council cautioned that any marches or assemblies must be approved by the appropriate authorities to prevent any disturbances of peace and order.

He stated, “Governor Sani, presiding over the briefing, commended the leadership of the security agencies, religious and traditional leaders, and all critical stakeholders for the roles they played in containing the unfortunate events which followed the protest in Kaduna and Zaria.”
