The Director General of Media and Publicity to the governor, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, issued a statement announcing the appointment of new emirs for the Gaya, Karaye, and Rano Emirates.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has given his approval for the appointment of new emirs to oversee the Gaya, Karaye, and Rano Emirates. The Karaye Emirate will be led by Alhaji Muhammad Maharaz Karaye, the Rano Emirate will be headed by Alhaji Muhammad Isa Umar, and Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir Gaya has been reinstated as the emir of Gaya Emirate.
The governor extended his congratulations to the newly appointed emirs and urged them to foster culture, peace, and unity within their respective emirates. The appointments are effective immediately.
This occurrence follows the approval of the Kano State Emirate Council establishment bill by the Kano Assembly and the subsequent endorsement of the bill by the governor.
As a result, three second-class emirates were established. On Tuesday, Governor Yusuf emphasized that the creation of the emirates reflects the significance of traditional institutions and showcases the government’s dedication to safeguarding cultural heritage.
