During the recent polio immunisation exercise in Ungogo Local Government Area of Kano State, a total of 225,535 children under the age of five were vaccinated, as stated by the council’s Information Officer, Salisu Yakasai.
“During the exercise, 225,535 infants and under-five children were successfully immunised,” Yakasai said.
The immunisation targets were fully achieved, with the successful immunisation of all the infants and young children during the program.
The Primary Health Care Coordinator of Ungogo, Isa Nassarawa, described the exercise as a triumph and presented a comprehensive report to the council’s Acting Chairman, Munzali Alhassan.
Alhassan attributed this success to the collaborative efforts of traditional leaders and parents, emphasizing their crucial roles in ensuring the program’s efficacy.
He urged them to continue supporting ongoing health initiatives in the region and encouraged health professionals to maintain close cooperation with the local task force committee to completely eliminate polio.
Malam Kofar Nassarawa highlighted the extensive efforts of health workers in reaching every corner of the local government area to ensure universal coverage.
He also expressed gratitude for the support provided by the current administration and various non-governmental organizations in terms of logistics and resources, which greatly contributed to the success of the immunisation campaign.
