EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION

Kheengz, a talented artist from Zaria, Kaduna, and raised in Bida, Niger, belongs to the Kadara ethnic group.

He is the third child among six siblings and pursued a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering at Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria.

During his time in secondary school in 2006, Kheengz began writing rap songs.

He started recording in 2010 while in university and gained attention for his covers of popular tracks by artists like Sarkodie and Ice Prince, catching the eye of M.I Abaga.

CAREER

In 2013, Kheengz released his debut mixtape, “College Kid Mixtape,” which featured collaborations with respected rap artists such as M.I Abaga and Erigga.

The standout track, “Jealousy,” received significant praise. He later dedicated a video titled “I Believe” to students who tragically lost their lives at the College of Agriculture in Yobe State.

After the success of his mixtape, Kheengz released his EP “VOA (Voice of Arewa)” in November 2015 and followed up with “Pedestal EP” in December 2017.

He continued to express his message through his music, including the empowering song “I Am North,” which aimed to challenge stereotypes about people from Northern Nigeria.

On 25 December 2019, Kheengz released his breakthrough album “Voice of Arewa,” also known as “Voice of the North.”

The impressive project featured collaborations with well-known artists such as Erigga, DJ AB, DJ Steev, Ijaya, and a remix of “Alhamdulillah” with Ice Prince in 2019.

In a display of unity, Kheengz teamed up with popular northern rap artists DJ AB, Deezell, and BOC Madaki for the EP “The Four Horsemen,” which was released on 26 December 2020.

Exploring new and exciting territory, Kheengz released the single “Who be This Guy” featuring Falz and M.I Abaga on 4 June 2021.

This highly anticipated collaboration had been generating significant buzz in the media since its announcement in July 2020.

The music video, directed by Bash’em, was released on 2 July 2021, further establishing Kheengz as a dynamic force in the industry.

In addition to his music career, Kheengz also showcased his versatility by venturing into acting, securing a role in the Nigerian TV series “Crazy, Lovely, Cool,” which is available on Netflix.
