LG to empower Nigerians with training institute

Date:

LG Electronics, known for producing residential and industrial appliances, has launched a business-to-business (B2B) academy aimed at empowering Nigerians and industry stakeholders.

The new facility will act as a hub for industry trade professionals, providing them with the opportunity to learn about the latest technologies, enhance their installation and maintenance skills, and ultimately offer better product recommendations and services to their customers.

At the launch event in Lagos, Shawn Chang, the director of Africa Air Solutions Business at LG, emphasized that the academy was designed to support the company’s customers, partners, and stakeholders.

Explaining the motivation behind the initiative, Prabhjeet Channa, LG’s regional director of Africa HVAC engineering, noted that while LG oversees 25 countries from Nigeria, there was a need for a proper training institute. “When I say institute, it is developing the skill of the country that seeks knowledge. So, Nigeria and other neighboring countries, they were seeking knowledge and this is the right place to gain the experience and the knowledge that they are lacking,” he said.

According to LG, the facility will offer “thousands” of training courses covering a wide range of topics in both the residential and commercial sectors. These courses will include installation, software evaluation, and best practices for servicing LG air solutions products. The training is designed to cover technical installation and service, with a focus on ducted and duct-free systems, VRF, heat pump water heaters, and control solutions.

“We will have a proper curriculum from the basics to advanced training. Beginners will have their own sessions to understand fundamental concepts like how the compressor works and the operation of fans,” Channa added. Ali Fouani, director at Fouani Nigeria Limited, highlighted that the academy would significantly aid career placement and provide the industry with experienced manpower.

Participants will also learn about implementing efficient and sustainable practices.

This new facility is LG’s second training center in Nigeria, following the first established in 2012 at the University of Lagos. Registration details for the new academy will be announced next week.
