CAREER
Ugarte’s football journey began in the youth ranks of City Park before he joined Fénix’s youth setup.
At the age of 15, he was promoted to Fénix’s first team by manager Rosario Martínez and was included in the 30-man squad for the 2016 Copa Sudamericana.
On December 4, 2016, Ugarte made his professional debut, becoming the youngest player in Uruguay to play professionally in the 21st century at just 15 years and 233 days old. Initially playing as a striker, he later transitioned to a midfielder.
Under the guidance of manager Juan Ramón Carrasco, Ugarte’s role within the team expanded, leading to him being named the captain of the club at the young age of 18.
