The Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Matawalle, has given N20 million in cash to those affected by the recent flood in Gummi town, Zamfara State.
In addition to expressing his sympathy for the victims who lost their homes, livestock, food supplies, and crops due to heavy rainfall, Matawalle sent his message and donation through a delegation led by the state All Progressives Congress Chairman, Tukur Danfulani.
He advised the flood victims to view their current situation as a test from God and to expect better times ahead for those who remain patient. The delegation, led by Danfulani, prayed that such disasters would not recur.
The N20 million was presented to the Emir of Gummi at the palace for distribution to those affected by the flood as initial aid while the council verifies the full extent of the damage.
The Minister pledged to continue supporting those in need.
Danfulani urged other wealthy individuals in the state to provide relief materials and assistance to the flood victims in Gummi and other parts of Zamfara State.
He pointed out, “This donation is really timely as it will give the people a good sense of belonging, cushion the effect of the disaster, and help them resettle.”
The Emir of Gummi, Lawal Gummi, thanked the Minister for the timely donation and assured that it would be distributed promptly to those in need to help them recover from the disaster.
