Genevieve Nnaji has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Onyeka Onwenu, a legendary singer, songwriter, and actress who passed away on Wednesday.

According to sources, she had taken the stage to perform, returned to her seat, and suddenly slumped, prompting emergency services to be called. She was later confirmed dead at the hospital on Victoria Island.

Genevieve Nnaji paid a heartfelt tribute to Onyeka Onwenu on her Instagram story, praising the late legend’s powerful voice that resonated with everyone.

Genevieve shared that her movie, Lion Heart, was inspired by a desire to honor Onyeka and other childhood heroes. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to share moments with Onyeka, creating iconic memories that will forever be etched in her mind.

Genevieve confessed that writing the tribute made her confront the reality of Onyeka’s passing, causing her tears to flow, and acknowledging that it wasn’t just a bad dream she would wake up from.

Several celebrities have joined Genevieve Nnaji in mourning the loss of Onyeka Onwenu.

Omawumi led the tributes with a candlelight photo and a heartbroken emoji, while Regina Askia posted a picture of Onyeka on her Instagram page, also expressing her sadness.

Additionally, Fuji singer Malaika offered a prayer for Onyeka’s soul to rest in peace, as the news of her passing continues to resonate with the entertainment industry.
