EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION

Vera Hamenoo-Kpeda, known professionally as MzVee, was born in South La Estates, Accra, to Ernest Hamenoo-Kpeda, a businessman, and Florence Hamenoo-Kpeda, a caterer.

Her family has roots in Keta, located in the Volta Region of Ghana.

During her childhood, she grew up alongside two older sisters and a brother.

MzVee began her education at St. Martin de Porres School in Dansoman, Accra, and later attended St. Mary’s Girls’ Senior High School, where she focused on Home Economics.

She initially studied Business Administration at Ghana Telecom University but decided to discontinue her education in 2016.

CAREER

In 2012, MzVee entered the Ghanaian music scene as the lead singer of D3, a girl group under Lynx Entertainment.

The group enjoyed success with songs like “Good Girls Gone Bad” and “Gyani Gyani” until they disbanded in 2013 to concentrate on their studies.

From 2014 to 2016, MzVee launched her solo career, releasing her first single, “Borkor Borkor,” in January 2014.

Her subsequent hit, “Natural Girl,” earned her the ‘Unsung Artiste Award’ at the 2014 Ghana Music Awards.

MzVee released her debut album, which included collaborations with prominent artists, in November 2014.

She followed this with the successful album “Verified” in November 2015 and her third album, “DaaVee,” in May 2017.

After taking a break from 2017 to 2019, MzVee opened up about her struggles with depression during a January 2020 interview, addressing rumors about her being pregnant.

With the encouragement of her friend Efya, she managed to overcome her challenges and announced her return to music in 2020, teasing a new single titled “Sheriff.”

In 2020, MzVee had intended to release two albums but was unable to do so due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Instead, she launched the album “inVeencible” in December 2020, which featured collaborations with various artists.

In March 2021, she teamed up with TRACE TV to release the music video for her song “You Alone.”

In 2022, MzVee celebrated her 10th anniversary in the music industry and her 30th birthday by releasing her fifth album, “10 Thirty,” on June 24.

This album contains ten tracks and includes collaborations with Nigerian artists such as Bella Shmurda, Yemi Alade, and Tiwa Savage.

PERSONAL LIFE

In a 2022 interview, MzVee spoke about the conclusion of her previous relationship, citing her boyfriend’s insecurity as the reason for its breakdown.

At present, there is no public information about her current romantic situation, as she has opted to keep details about her personal life private.
