EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION 

Nathaniel Bassey, was born in Lagos, Nigeria, on August 27, 1981. He hails from Ikot Ofon Ikono, Uyo local government in Akwa-Ibom state, located in the southern region of Nigeria.

His father, Mr. E. Joshua Bassey, served as a minister in the Apostolic Church Bashua Assembly, while his mother, Mrs. E. Bassey, was a devout Christian. He has a brother and a sister.

For his primary education, he attended the Apostolic Church Primary School in Surulere, Lagos, and later went on to study at the Federal Government College, Lagos, for his secondary education.

Before going to London to study politics, he attended the University of Lagos where he focused on international relations and politics.

Additionally, he attended the Middlesex University Summer School where he gained knowledge in music theory, composition, and performance.

CAREER 

Nathaniel Bassey began his music career in the church, where he joined the Rhodes Orchestra and played the trumpet for a period of two years.

During a visit to Stella Obasanjo, the late wife of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, he composed a song that became his breakthrough.

His impressive performances at the State House and other prestigious events earned him invitations and praise from numerous dignitaries and celebrities.

In 2008, he released his first album, Elohim, which was recorded and mixed in Cape Town, South Africa. The album featured the popular track “Someone’s knocking at the door”.

Throughout his career, he has released several other albums, including Someone’s At The Door (2010), The Son of God (& Imela) (2014), This God Is Too Good (2016), Revival Flames (2017), Jesus: The Resurrection & the Life (2018), The King Is Coming (2019), and Hallelujah Again (Revelation 19:3) (2021).

Nathaniel Bassey has collaborated with renowned gospel artists like Sinach, Frank Edwards, Don Moen, Micah Stampley, Enitan Adaba, Chioma Jesus, and Victoria Orenze.

He has also performed at various concerts, festivals, and events, including The Experience, Alabanza, Night of Worship, and Fearless.

He organizes the #HallelujahChallenge, a monthly online worship event that began in June 2017.

People from various countries and continents join him on Instagram and Facebook live to worship and pray to God for one hour every midnight.

The event has witnessed numerous testimonies, miracles, and breakthroughs, and has attracted more than 70,000 viewers simultaneously.

Additionally, he serves as a pastor and music director at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).

He leads both the RCCG Festival of Life Choir and the RCCG National Mass Choir. He is also the founder of The Oasis, a ministry that focuses on worship, prayer, and intercession.

PERSONAL LIFE 

Nathaniel Bassey, met his wife Sarah Bassey at a church in Eket, Akwa Ibom, where he was ministering, is happily married.

They tied the knot in 2013 after being in a relationship for more than a decade. They have two children, a son named David Bassey and a daughter whose name is not publicly known.

They reside in Lagos, Nigeria, and operate a ministry called The Oasis.
