The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has organized an urgent National Executive Council (NEC) gathering in response to the police summoning of its National President, Joe Ajaero, regarding accusations of funding terrorism.
This NEC session, set for 8 am on Tuesday at the Olaitan Oyerinde Hall, Labour House, will involve the leaders of all affiliate groups and state branches of NLC.
The notice for this emergency NEC assembly was issued by Emmanuel Ugboaja, the Secretary General of NLC, under the title “Notice of emergency National Executive Council meeting”.
Ajaero has been called by the police for questioning regarding alleged involvement in criminal activities such as conspiracy, terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion, and cybercrime.
The police letter, signed by ACP Adamu Mu’azu, demands Ajaero’s presence at the IRT Complex by 10 am on Tuesday, with the threat of an arrest warrant if he fails to comply.
Following a security operation on July 7, where security personnel searched the NLC headquarters in Abuja, the police stated that they were looking for evidence related to an international figure involved in subversive activities.
