NNPCL refutes claims of increase in fuel price

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has addressed the rumours of new increase in fuel price confirming that the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) has not changed.

Olufemi Soneye, NNPCL spokesperson, “There is no increase in gasoline price that I am aware of,” countering speculation that prices had risen from N1,030 to N1,060 per litre in Abuja.

The spokesperson to the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Chinedu Ukadike stated, “NNPCL still sells to us at the same price.”

He noted that the independent marketers are facing fuel price hike.

“For Port Harcourt, it is N1,040 per litre; Abuja and Lagos are around N990 per litre.”

Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group, stated that the petroleum marketers usually overlook the capacity of the company refinery which can produce a significant amount of fuel.
