The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) has allocated N260 million to the Niger State Government for the creation of 40 new Primary Health Care (PHC) facilities throughout the state.
The Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Muyi Aina, made this announcement during a meeting with Governor Umaru Bago at the Government House in Minna.
Aina explained that these new facilities are intended to support the governor’s efforts in healthcare delivery.
The funding for this project will come from resources mobilized by NPHCDA from development partners. Additionally, more PHC facilities in Niger State will benefit from increased Basic Health Care Provision Funds provided by the federal government.
Aina emphasized the need for accountability in the use of these funds and commended Governor Bago for his achievements in various sectors, urging him to address human resource gaps and density issues in the healthcare system.
In response, Governor Bago highlighted the state’s commitment to investing in health and education, with discussions underway to implement technology, such as telemedicine, in PHC facilities.
Plans are also in place to provide renewable energy, security outposts, mini ambulances, and accommodation for health workers at these facilities.
The state government is dedicated to ensuring that the new PHC facilities meet the required standards.
He equally highlighted readiness for continuous collaboration with the Agency for the benefit of the people.
