Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youths, on Thursday, called upon President Bola Tinubu to step in and address the political crisis in Rivers State, expressing their distress over the disruption of government activities. They pleaded with Tinubu to use his influence to persuade the Minister for Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom, and his supporters.
In a statement, Mazi Chika Art Adiele, the spokesperson for Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youths, expressed concern over the persistent disruption of governance activities for political motives. He warned that if left unaddressed, this behavior would adversely affect the state’s economy.
The group emphasized that according to the constitution, only one governor is permitted to govern a state at a time. They lamented the unfortunate situation where certain individuals chose to obstruct the administration of the state.
Adiele said, “We are miffed by the audacity of the outgone Chairmen and their agents to disrupt Government activities in the Local Government Headquarters across the state by barricading the entrance to these Government facilities.
“Indeed, there is a saying in Igbo adage that says; if the oracle misbehaves it will be reminded that it was carved out of the wood.
“Nigeria is a Constitutional democracy as it is an aberration for anyone to attempt to play God in the affairs of men.
“Constitutionally, Gov Fubara, was elected to serve a four-year term, with a constitutional convention for a second term, just like the outgone Chairmen.
“Therefore, the Igbo youths call on Mr President to wade into this brouhaha in a bid to de-escalate this tension, ” he added.
