During an appearance on Arise TV’s morning show on Tuesday, Emeka Beke, the reinstated Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, alleged that Tony Okocha, the former Caretaker Committee Chairman of the party, was acting in accordance with the directives of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Beke pledged to assume control and restore stability within the party in the state.
Beke stated, “I have taken over the leadership of the party in the state and will ensure I stabilize the party.
“Tony Okocha is playing Wike’s script, he’s not a member of our party.
“My name is Emeka Beke, and I still remain the Chairman of APC in Rivers State, IPAC is meeting today and I will attend as chairman of the party.”
The party leader also addressed the purported connection between Former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi and Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
According to Beke: “I worked with Rotimi Amaechi and he is my leader, and he has no link with Fubara.
“If he extends a hand of fellowship to APC, we will work with him and develop the state. We can’t continue fighting; Rivers is going backwards.
“You can’t have two governors in one state, even if your own son is made governor, you should allow him to function.
“We have finished the politicking; it’s now time for governance.”
On Monday, the Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt invalidated the APC’s seven-member Caretaker Committee under Okocha, which had been designated by the National Working Committee of the APC.
Justice Sika Aprioku, in response to a lawsuit filed by Sam Sam Etetegwung and others representing the APC executive in the state, reinstated the executive under Beke as the rightful leadership of the party in Rivers State.
