“Okpebholo is God-sent, his victory divine punishment for Obaseki” – Solomon Okoduwa

Date:

Solomon Okoduwa, a former Senior Special Assistant to the outgoing Edo Governor Godwin Obaseki, has lauded the newly elected governor of the state, Monday Okpebholo, as a leader who has been divinely sent.

Okoduwa stressed that Okpebholo’s triumph signifies a form of divine intervention.

Okpebholo, who ran on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was announced as the victor of the recent governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), surpassing the candidates from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Asue Ighodalo, and the Labour Party, Olumide Akpata.

In a statement released today, Okoduwa asserted that Okpebholo’s success symbolizes a form of divine retribution towards Obaseki, whom he accused of governing with what he described as “wickedness, vendetta, and high-handedness.”

Okoduwa commended Okpebholo’s qualities, highlighting the humility and approachability that characterized the APC candidate’s campaign.

He stated, “Okpebholo, from his background, is God-sent. The way he addresses issues and relates to people, you will never see arrogance in him.”

Okoduwa further mentioned that the governor-elect’s capacity to engage effectively with the residents of Edo State, particularly with returning citizens and underrepresented communities, significantly contributed to his win.

“That is why the entire returnees protested against [Obaseki] and voted for Okpebholo,” he continued.

While speaking on Obaseki, he said: “Almighty God deliberately wanted to punish Obaseki by giving him defeat because of his wickedness to returnees and other indigenes of Edo State.”

He went on to provide a more detailed explanation of the elements that, from his perspective, led to Obaseki’s defeat in the election.

He said, “The factors that led to his defeat were his wickedness and high-handedness, unforgiving spirit, and vendetta.”
