Omoni Oboli’s ‘Wives on Strike’ to return in 2024 with Hilda Dokubo, KieKie, Uche Jombo

Filmmaker Omoni Oboli has announced a spinoff to her 2016 film, “Wives on Strike,” called “The Uprising: Wives on Strike 3,” which is set to hit theatres in the fourth quarter of 2024 .

The new film will feature returning stars Chioma Akpotha, Uche Jumbo, Ufuoma McDermott and Oboli herself, and will also introduce new cast members, including veteran actress Hilda Dokubo, Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori and May Yul-Edochie .

Omoni Oboli shared the exciting news on her Instagram account on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, revealing that a spinoff, titled “The Uprising: Wives on Strike 3”, is in the works and will be a continuation of her 2016 film “Wives on Strike”.

“It’s finally here, and my heart is brimming with gratitude and excitement! Returning to the big screen with The Uprising – Wives on Strike feels like coming home,” she said in the post.

The film “Wives on Strike” (2016) and its sequel “Wives on Strike: The Revolution” (2018) are satirical comedies that tackle serious issues affecting women.

The story revolves around a group of women who withhold sex from their husbands to protest the forced marriage of a young girl to an older man, and to bring attention to gender-based violence in their community.

Using humor, the film sparks important conversations about the challenges women face, making it a thought-provoking and impactful watch.
