Omoyele Sowore, a founder of the African Action Congress and a former presidential candidate in Nigeria, has joined the #FearlessInOctober protesters in Lagos State.
The protesters gathered at the Ikeja underbridge area around 8:50 am on October 1. In a group, they are asking the Nigerian government to put in place actions and policies that can help reduce the difficulties and hardships faced by citizens.
Despite warnings from important security agencies, Sowore, along with the protesters, is one of the organizers of the protest.
Despite the explicit warnings issued by the Department of State Security cautioning against the October 1 protest and advising its organizers to refrain from proceeding, Sowore boldly boarded a plane and made his way from the United States to Nigeria, resolute in his stance.
Simultaneously, similar protests are unfolding in several cities across the nation, notably in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria. Additionally, a heavy security presence have been observed in these urban centers where the protests are actively taking place.
