EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION 

Parker McCollum, who was born in 1992 and raised in Conroe, Texas, which is close to Houston, developed a passion for music at a young age.

Inspired by legendary artists like Willie Nelson and George Strait, he started writing his own songs when he was just thirteen years old.

McCollum’s unique musical style combines elements of Texas country, Americana, and indie rock, drawing inspiration from his family and his experiences working on a cattle ranch.

He learned to play the violin during his elementary school years and later picked up the guitar at the age of thirteen, performing at various local venues throughout his high school years.

After graduating, he made the decision to move to Austin, Texas, in order to pursue his music career while also attending college.

CAREER 

Following a tour with Six Market Blvd., Parker McCollum released his first single, titled “Highway,” on June 5, 2013.

This song served as the inspiration for his debut EP, A Red Town View, which was produced by Corby Schaub, a former guitarist for Ryan Bingham.

McCollum’s debut album, The Limestone Kid, was recorded at Cedar Creek Recording in Austin and showcases his influences from Americana, Texas country, and folk-rock genres.

With McCollum taking on the roles of lead vocalist, acoustic guitarist, and harmonica player, the album features a talented backing band consisting of Kurt Grien, Jason Newberry, Will Hoback, and Charlie Magnone.

Corby Schaub produced the album, with Lloyd Maines contributing his skills on the pedal steel guitar.

McCollum’s first album, The Limestone Kid, was released in 2015 and includes songs that he either wrote or co-wrote, some of which were written by his family members.

The album’s title is a reference to his nickname from his ranch work days, which reflects his upbringing in Limestone County, Texas.

Before the album’s release, McCollum released his first single, “Meet You in the Middle,” which gained popularity. The Austin Chronicle gave the album a positive review and compared his music to that of Charlie Robison.

McCollum then went on a tour across Texas with his band, where he showcased his raw storytelling style that resonated with audiences at various music festivals and earned him recognition in the Texas music scene.

In July 2017, McCollum released Probably Wrong: Session One, which marked his debut on the Billboard charts and achieved impressive rankings, including reaching No. 6 on the Heatseekers Albums chart. Shortly after, Probably Wrong: Session Two was released in September of the same year.

The full 10-track album, Probably Wrong, was released in November 2017 and featured popular songs like “I Can’t Breathe” and “Misunderstood,” as well as new tracks like “Hell of a Year.” The album was produced by Grammy Award-winning Lloyd Maines.

Throughout 2017, McCollum embarked on an extensive tour to promote his latest music releases.

In a significant career move, he signed with Universal Music Group in June 2019 and introduced his first single, “Pretty Heart,” under the label.

On October 16, 2020, his EP titled Hollywood Gold was unveiled to the public.

On July 30, 2021, McCollum released his highly acclaimed third studio album, which received praise from Country Swag for its distinct sound and polished production.

The album, titled Gold Chain Cowboy, set McCollum apart from the mainstream country radio scene.

Shortly after, in March 2022, he was honored with the New Male Artist of the Year award at the American Country Music Awards.

During the same month, McCollum performed at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, captivating a crowd of 73,243 attendees.

Looking to the future, McCollum released “Handle on You” as the lead single from his upcoming album, Never Enough, continuing his successful musical journey.

PERSONAL LIFE 

On March 28, 2022, Parker McCollum tied the knot with his longtime partner, Hallie Ray Light. The couple joyfully welcomed their first child, a son, in August 2024.
