The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kebbi has requested for an investigation into the construction of Yauri township roads.
During a press briefing in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday, October 22, Alhaji Abubakar Bawa-Kalgo, the party’s Secretary made this appeal.
Bawa-Kalgo stated, “PDP is appalled by the shoddy execution of the ongoing multi-billion naira Yauri township roads project; it’s most unfortunate and extremely distasteful.”
Reports have it that the roads that were completed after few months have started deteriorating and breaking apart. The party asked the State Ministry of Works to take measures and swift into actions to help the situation.
Bawa-Kalgo stated, “It is imperative that the State Ministry of Works take full responsibility for this glaring contractual breach.”
He further urged Governor Nasir Idris to take action against any officials that is not diligent in his work while cautioning them that accountability and transparency is crucial to prevent such incidents in future.
He expressed deep concerns on the party’s project stating that the purpose was to help the lives of the poor.
He concluded, “PDP is extremely shocked that a project of this magnitude can be compromised in this manner so soon.”
