PDP Governors expresses their support to Governor Fubara

Date:

Governors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have expressed their support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara in the political turmoil taking place in Rivers State. In a statement released after their gathering in Enugu on Wednesday, the governors endorsed Fubara, who has been in conflict with his political mentor, Nyesom Wike, currently serving as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to reports, the political crisis in Rivers State has resulted in a divided State House of Assembly, raising concerns about the PDP’s leadership and their apparent silence on the matter.

The communique read, “The Forum has resolved to stand by His Excellency, Sir Sim Fubara, Governor of Rivers State; while at the same time employ wider consultations with stakeholders for a peaceful resolution and thus find a lasting solution to the crises.”

The governors expressed their disappointment over the regression of the achievements made during the 16-year tenure of the PDP-led federal government. They highlighted notable accomplishments such as single-digit inflation, the establishment of anti-corruption institutions, and improved living standards.

They attributed the challenges faced by the country to the current APC-led government and pledged to revive the favorable conditions of the past. Their promises included restoring low inflation rates, ensuring affordable food, fuel, and transportation, attracting consistent foreign investment, and maintaining a strong national currency.

The governors praised PDP-governed states for their innovative governance strategies, specifically in areas such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, and youth initiatives.

They called on Nigerians to avoid chaos while striving for the PDP’s return to power in 2027. Additionally, the governors expressed gratitude to Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State for hosting the meeting and for his efforts in maintaining party unity in the South Eastern region.
