Peoples Democratic Party members in Kwara State have initiated demonstrations subsequent to the All Progressives Congress party securing victory in all 16 Local Government Areas in Kwara State.
The protest by PDP members ensued following the declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of APC’s triumph in the 16 local government councils within the state.
Mohammed Baba-Okanla, the Chairman of the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission, disclosed in a statement on Sunday, September 22, that the APC emerged victorious in both the chairmanship and councillorship positions across the 193 wards in Kwara.
In a show of support for their party, PDP members took to the streets brandishing different placards to demonstrate against the outcome.
As they marched towards the KWASIEC office located in the Fate area of Ilorin, these party members expressed gratitude to the state’s populace for their backing.
Nevertheless, they leveled accusations against KWASIEC, claiming that the commission displayed bias during the local government elections.
While representing the party members, Saratu Adebayo, a former state commissioner, alleged that KWASIEC manipulated results in favor of the APC.
She stated, “The PDP won the chairmanship election in the 16 local government areas of the state, but the seats were falsely awarded to APC by KWASIEC.”
