Planes grounded as global IT outage hits airlines, media, banks

Date:

The operations of Cable Airlines in countries like Singapore, the United States, and Australia have been disrupted by a significant global cyber outage affecting various services.

This major IT outage, which started early this morning, has also impacted banks and media outlets.

International reports indicate that numerous airports and airlines are experiencing IT system issues as the outage spreads.

Flights have been grounded at Sydney Airport, United Airlines has halted operations, and the London Stock Exchange Group’s platform is reportedly down.

Sky News channel is also off the air due to the disruptions.

The issue has been traced to downtime with Microsoft internet services and problems with Cloudstrike, a cybersecurity software company.

David Rhodes, Sky News executive chairman, stated that the channel has been unable to broadcast live this morning.

“Sky News has not been able to broadcast live TV this morning, and we apologize for the interruption,” Rhodes posted on X. “Much of our news report is still available online, and we are working hard to restore all services.”
