Nigerian singer Portable has responded to allegations of assault leveled by social media activist Very Dark Man.
Naija Traffic reported that social media activist Very Dark Man accused singer Portable of physically assaulting a man in a restroom at the Felabration event in Lagos, sharing footage of the alleged incident and advocating for Portable’s arrest while encouraging the victim to come forward.Very Dark Man calls for the arrest of Portable for allegedly assaulting a man in a toilet.
Portable has now responded with a video on Instagram, dismissing the allegations and warning the activist, Very Dark Man, that online bravado is distinct from real-life consequences, boasting that his reputation in Abuja would reveal a different story.
Portable also urged his fans and supporters to stand against cyberbullying and online harassment.
“Who dey cripple-ye Awa Ọmọ who dey who dey we go cripple you who dey come dey fear only God we fear says no to ripping say no to online bullying.”
Portable’s rise in the music industry has been marked by numerous controversies and a reputation for being involved in physical altercations.
In September, Portable was involved in a physical altercation with a pastor, slapping him during a confrontation that was captured on video. The incident occurred when Portable, while live-streaming with fans, took offense to the pastor’s outdoor preaching and stepped outside to address him, leading to the violent exchange. Afterwards, Portable continued to vent in Yoruba, expressing his allegiance to African traditional religion.
Going on In July, Portable was involved in a public brawl with an okada rider in Lagos, accusing the rider of stealing his phone. Videos of the incident showed Portable, wearing a yellow hoodie, physically altercation with the bike man before onlookers intervened to separate them, causing a scene in the area.
In April 2023, Portable was arraigned at the Ifo High Court in Ogun State on six counts of assault. This was a significant development in the ongoing legal proceedings against the singer.
The arraignment followed a viral video showing Portable verbally abusing and physically harassing Nigerian police officers.
